The film is inspired by the legend of the Veiled Lady, a beautiful woman who appeared at night in the former cemetery of San Pietro in Vincoli in Turin.

Laura is a model who moves to Turin into the apartment once inhabited by her grandmother. There she meets the painter Cesare Orsini, the tenant living upstairs, with whom she begins a passionate relationship.

However, their affair is not well regarded by a spirit that haunts the house — appearing in the form of a mysterious Veiled Woman — whose presence seems to be linked to the fate of a painting portraying a beautiful woman.
